Lung Cancer Screening

If you are between 55 and 77 and a smoker or have quit within the past 15 years, CMS had approved in February 2015 a a yearly screening procedure.  Chief Medical Officer Patrick Conway says, “This is the first time that Medicare has covered lung cancer screening. This is an important new Medicare preventive benefit since lung cancer is the third most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.”  If you qualify, consult with your primary physician so you can become authorized to have a low dosage cat scan of the lungs.
